New Yorkers are the most degenerate gamblers in the country.
Mobile sportsbooks in the Empire State racked up a staggering $2.3 billion in bets in October, shattering its national record of $2.1 billion in bets set last year, according to new state Gaming Commission stats.
October was the second month in a row – and the fifth month overall – that Big Apple sportsbooks saw over $2 billion in wagers.
No other state has reached the $2 billion threshold in a single month.
“The excitement and the revenue generated by New York’s sports wagering has exceeded all expectations,” commission chairman Brian O’Dwyer told The Post.
Of the nine online sportsbooks the state regulates, FanDuel collected the most dough in October – $907.6 million – followed by DraftKings, which saw $813.7 million in wagers.
Overall, the sportsbooks won a whopping $176.4 million from bettors in October, as both the Mets and Yankees went deep into the postseason but ultimately lost to the champion Los Angeles Dodgers.
Football is most popular sport among New York gamblers.
The state did not allow wagering on the recent Netflix fight between Jake Paul and Mike Tyson, which was the most bet-on bout in American history.
Of the revenue generated by mobile sports wagering in the Empire State so far this year, $595.4 million has been allocated to fund public education aid, according to the commission.
